Crystal Bell gala supports Mental Health America
For several years, members of the board of directors of Mental Health America in Montgomery have helped support the organiza-tion by hosting an evening auction and casual dinner as the culminat-ing celebration of an annual golf tournament.As golfers ended a perfect day for the sport on the greens, they were welcomed recently under a tent constructed in the parking lot of the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club by more than 200 city resi-dents and visitors. Enjoying good food, entertainment and an oppor-tunity to bid on special gift dona-tions until the late evening, they all continued to raise funds to help the organization support its mis-sion of "bringing wellness home."
MHA board members Karen Day and Nichole Thompson co-chaired the fourth annual gala event recently, sprinkling faux-crystals amid the evening's décor in the country club's Swan Ball-room, where they helped continue the tradition of "making it crystal clear there is hope for those who suffer from mental illness."
With many businesses having to cut back on their charitable con-tributions this year, the duo and their fellow board members were elated as the evening ended with proceeds surpassing their goal of $18,000. Funds raised this year will be used to help the 58-year-old or-ganization continue its education,Bridesmaid dresses advocacy and consumer pro-grams.
Mental Health America is con-sidered the country's oldest non-profit organization dedicated to helping all Americans live mental-ly healthier lives. Mental Health America in Montgomery is one of 300 affiliates across the country.
