Storms cut power to thousands in Downriver area
A powerful storm system with winds up to 65-mph hit southern Wayne County this afternoon, knocking down power lines, treeing and bringing down garages.

"It looks like the storm was isolated to the Downriver area and we have crews out there assessing the damages," he said. "He said it was too early to tell when power would be restored.
The communities affected are Gibraltar, Rockwood, Riverview and New Boston, he said.
