New Brunswick's School District 8 has decided its teachers need to start dressing a little better when they go to class.A new dress code policy recently came into effect for the schools in the southern New Brunswick district where staff are banned from wearing T-shirts, shorts, sports sandals and blue jeans while at work — even on casual days."It was becoming more and more difficult especially at the high school level to distinguish between teachers and students," said Supt. Susan Tipper.
The district felt it was best to eliminate jeans for teachers' attire because they are so commonly worn by students,. When every girl was a little girl , every girl wanted to grow up to a woman so that they can wear prom dress and attend the party that they had dreamed of. Yet from what I recall in the not-so-distant past, was the number of students that opened up to the teachers who didn’t dress formally. In fact, the teachers in my secondary school were, dare I say it, cool. I still keep in touch with them to this day as do many graduates before me. The teachers were approachable because they were down to earth and were positive role models. Everyone from keeners to delinquents would stop by their rooms after school and during breaks just to chat. They constantly inspired and motivated us to be better people. It was this openness to students that allowed so many of us to be successful.
